A LEGO Party!

Hump Day!!   For some reason this week has been lagging too much for me.  Maybe because things at work are some what calm right now.  Either way, I'm GLAD we are half way thru!

Not too long ago I did a small Lego party for my oldest boy.  He finished Kinder with good grades so I wanted to reward him for all his hard work.  He loves Lego's so I thought this would be the perfect theme for his party.  In case you don't know, I always look to do things on a good budget.  This requires me to do alot myself.  Which really works out for me since I LOVE doing it anyway. ☺  Below I am sharing a few of the ideas I came up with (some I had help by looking at things on the internet).  LE-GO!  Get it? Like let's go?  (nevermind)

Thank you for stopping by!  If you would like to know where I got some of the patterns from or how to do a project, please comment below!

Kids Block Letters

Monday Blues...Well this Monday has definitely hit me harder than most.  I was able to work on some of my home craft projects this weekend which is definitely something I always need more time for.  So coming back to the office was just something I did NOT want to do this morning.  BUT... you gotta work to pay those bills right?  And to work on more projects! ;)
Not too long ago we moved to an apartment complex which I might say I am in LOVE with!  Our new home has 2 bedrooms so my boys are able to have their own space, as so do my husband and I ;-).  So of course this was truly exciting not just for the boys but for ME as well!  I get to decorate their little room and make it as fun as possible for them!!  It is still a work in progress but it is moving little by little.  I want to make the room really feel like it's their own.  So I thought what better way than to add their names.  Unfortunately, I was not able to do the complete names (I'm not sure exactly where I am going with the decoration yet so I didn't want to clutter the walls.), but I did manage to at least add the first letter.  I think the results came out pretty good and they were definitely excited to see the branding of the room!! :D

I bought the B from Michael's for about 4 bucks.  It's made out of wood and it comes in natural wood color so you can paint it however you want.  I used green craft paint from Walmart (.50) and with two coats it gets a pretty solid color.  You can kind of see the wood marks but I didn't mind as I felt it gave it a little more of a natural look ;).  I was going to color in the circles  with orange craft paint but found orange dot stickers which I felt was a easier and the results were the same (probably better actually).  I wanted the look for this B to be a little more younger and playful since this is for my baby boy.  They both LOVE dinosaurs and I found these felt ones at Michael's for 2.99 and it has a lot of pieces so that was perfect!  My baby was definitely excited with the results!! :)

Bought the N from Michael's as well (same price) and the craft paint from Walmart. I added tape lines to cover while I painted the blue lines first.  Once the blue was fully dry, I covered that part to paint the green stripes.  The N is for my older boy so I wanted the look to be a little more mature (just a little, he's not that much older).  He loves dinosaurs as well and there was plenty from the little bag I had bought so this was worked out well too.  He was very happy with his letter! :)

Since we do live in an apartment I used the strips below to hang the letters(don't want to make too many holes).  They are quite strong, sturdy and very easy to peel off in case you change your mind or would like to move them around.

Thank you for stopping by!! :)

Oh so Shabby Chic!

This weekend a sweet friend of mine is having her baby shower.  She currently has two boys (unidentical twins)  and 6 years later has been blessed with her baby girl!!!  It is very exciting!  Her theme is Shabby Chic.  I have never been one to really like the shabby chic look ( always felt it was too girly for me), but it turns out I have changed!  I offered to help her with some of the décor including making a banner.  I must say I am pretty proud of the end results!  I cannot wait to show her my creation and of course, enjoy the shower!  Oh so Shabby Chic!!!
